Emperor Qin: Son of the devil

                                    Qin religious belief system

During the Qin dynasty there were many belief systems.  Qin especially hated Confucianism, and tried to destroy all its writing and scholars who taught Confucianism.  Qin believed in Legalism.  Legalism is a belief in which the government controls the people completely.  Qin believed that if the government had complete control there would be no rebellions because everyone was secure, and nobody would even be able to have the chance to rebel.  The government knew what went on at all times and if the government heard about a plan to rebel, they would put an end to it right away.

Qin didn't believe in, and refused to study the Analects of Confucius.  Qin would hear about Confucian scholars teaching about Confucius and he would execute those scholars immediately.  Qin tried to eliminate Confucianism by forcing people to give him their very own books about Confucius.  Qin would burn these book in an attempt to destroy Confucianism.  All people who tried to help the Confucian scholars were forced to work on the Great Wall.  All followers were forced to work on the Great Wall.  Emperor Qin really hated Confucianism.

With legalism comes a plan.  Emperor Qin wouldn’t be able to control the whole country of China because he doesn’t travel all the way around China very often, so Emperor Qin elected two strong government officials to run each province.  This way Qin would know what is going on around China and know that the government is in control.  Without these province leaders, the provinces would go unseen and may make a plan to rebel and not do their required work.  These government officials will enforce that these people do their work or they will be severely punished.

Emperor Qin gave very harsh consequences to those who did not follow the laws, and most of the time that person would be executed or forced to work on the Great Wall.
