Xianyang, China
Chan Wang has just been appointed Chancellor of Xianyang along with Hao Cinco. Chan Wang was taking a walk around Xianyang and happened to notice hungry ducks at the local pond. Chan Wang felt bad and fed them some bread. During this time Chan Wang was spotted by a local farmer. The farmer claims Chan Wang was not properly doing his job. He was turned in to Hao Cinco. Chan Wang was later fired for not doing his job, and goofing off when he had a very important political position within government that be taken serious at all times.
Emperor
Qin had just passed a law stating all people must spy on their
neighbors and others to see if they are doing their job properly. If
not they must be turned in. If you don’t turn in the person making the
mistake, you will be executed for breaking the law. If you do turn in
this person you will be rewarded.
Chan Wang states, “I was just taking a break, I need a break too, and I just happened to be walking and saw those hungry ducks swimming around. They hadn’t eaten all day, we all have to eat. So I decided to give them some bread. I get tired too, we all need some time to relax during the day, but getting fired for this? Completely unnecessary.” Another local farmer Moe Tiang thinks the opposite. “Chan Wang has a very serious political position within the government and should not be wasting his time feeding ducks. He shouldn’t be goofing off, when he has such a serious job like this, he deserved to be fired.” Emperor Qin also had a strong opinion about this little incident. “Chan Wang should definitely be fired for his immature actions. What was he doing feeding ducks? There was much work to be done and he was feeding ducks. What a weak and pitiful thing to do. You are a leader of Xianyang. Your job is extremely important and you shouldn’t waist your time feeding ducks. Ducks don’t do anything to help society. Chan Wang deserves to be fired.”
Chan Wang is now expected to work on the Great Wall as punishment. This is Matthew Busconi, part of New China signing off.
